*** This course is for students of RYA recognised training centres studying the Marine Radio Short Range Certificate. Contact your training centre for log-in details. If you want to preview the course before signing up with one of our training centres, please see our Taster course.***

This interactive course is for anyone who owns or uses a marine VHF radio or is preparing for their RYA Short Range Certificate (SRC) exam.

Learn how to operate a VHF radio enabled for Digital Selective Calling (DSC), the theory behind choosing the right equipment, how it works, making the right type of call, and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System in general. You can practice using our interactive radio to send distress, urgency and routine alerts, and making the voice calls using the internationally recognised format and words.

The SRC is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on a UK vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. This includes both fixed and hand held equipment using international channels.

This course must be followed by a practical exam to achieve the RYA Marine Radio Short Range Certificate.
